Every business has their own unique approach to making decisions about sustainability. We’re constantly trying to make improvements and be as responsible as possible – because we care.  In order to plan for the future we realize that we have to do our part.

What We’re Doing

Recycling Pick-Up

The next time we’re at your office dropping off your job, we’ll pick up those old plans and recycle them for you. By collecting them while we’re making deliveries, we’re able to kill two birds with one stone.

Recycling Drop Off

We’ve talked a lot about what, how and when we can pick-up recycling from your office but what if you want to drop materials off? You’re more than welcome, as long as it’s at our headquarters in Iwilei. We can accept recycling drop-offs during our regular hours. Just give us a quick call to let us know you’re coming.

Invoice Reduction

Over the years we’ve significantly decreased the amount of billing statements and invoices being mailed to our clients. Most of our clients have gone completely digital to cut down on unnecessary printing.

PV Installation

We installed PV panels across our entire roof to help decrease our electricity expenses and to ultimately reduce the consumption of fossil fuels on our island.

Best Practices

These are common practices that everyone in our industry is, or should be, adopting. They’re readily available and some require a minimal amount of effort and sacrifice.

Recycled Stock

Since July 2009, we’ve been using 30% recycled stock for all 8.5″x11,” 8.5″x14″ and 11″x17″ white copy paper. Unless otherwise requested – this is the material we use to print your jobs. As the most commonly used small format printing sizes, this change has significantly increased our (and your) use of sustainable materials.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certificate and House Stock

HONBLUE is a certified Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) printing company. In 2009, we converted to FSC house stock for our digital press.

Sustainable Machines

Wherever possible, HONBLUE uses the most energy efficient machines and appliances throughout our facility.
