When First Hawaiian Bank began preparing for their prestigious Chairman’s Council event, they came to us during their design phase with a specific goal: create an elegant invitation suite featuring sculptured embossing on high-quality stock—with a four-week turnaround.

We partnered closely with their graphic designer and engaged our in-house specialty print expert with over 40 years of experience to help choose the perfect stock. The selected paper was a soft vellum finish Neenah cover—readily available in-house, which helped us stay on schedule without sacrificing quality.

Originally intended to be a blind emboss, we recommended enhancing the effect by printing the design in a soft tint, amplifying the sculptured embossing dimensional quality. Using our J Press, we provided real press proofs so the client could see exactly how the final product would look.

Our prepress team also worked hand-in-hand with the die maker, reviewing and refining multiple iterations until we achieved the ideal sculptured finish. FHB took the idea even further—developing a smart system of three interchangeable dies instead of one large die, allowing for more flexibility across multiple pieces while maintaining a cohesive, unified look.

This project was a true collaboration—between our team’s technical expertise and First Hawaiian Bank’s design vision, we produced an elegant, sophisticated invitation package that matched the prestige of the event it represented.
